description

The Mourning Shoe Collection is an attempt to work with the shoe as an accesory and to create a tangible connection to the deceased ones, in a beautiful an aesthetic way. - A physical reminiscence.

At our visit to Ecco, one designer said something that stuck with us:
”Our customer is literally dying".
We chose to interpret this quite literally and created a collection that draws inspiration from death and the rituals surrounding it.

Our main sources of inspiration is the ritual of wrapping the dead as well as the colour white, which is in many cultures related to death. Also Influenced by 19th century mourning jewellery, pieces that incorporated a physical part of a deceased person that relatives would wear to keep the person close, we created to different looks resulting in a “wild” and a “mild” shoe.

THIS PROJECT IS
A COLLABORATION WITH // ECCO and my fellow students Amanda Nygren and Mia Strøbech
