description

This lounge chairs design is based on the cork oaks protective bark. A bark the tree has develop over time to protect it self from forest fires. I have worked with this protective ability in a figurative sense. The lounge chair appears therefor with large laminated shells of cork and ash that embraces and “protects” the user.

In my designprocess I have worked on creating a sculptural and organic funiture and sought a light and floating appearance. Therefore the frame is formed so that the shells are lifted up and is brought together through the circle in the frame, which at the same time connects and separates the shells.
