The Stretch Me Chair
StretchMe is a chair thats about stretching the rules of construction and function for a classical stick-chair according to the danish type.
The dimensions and material is by its proportions put into a modern context where the the new way of using a chair is the inspiration as we always want to cuddle up and twist the way we sit.
The Chair got 20 sticks, 90 holes and 100 meters of elastic string that is all braided together in an elastic construction. The inspiration for the chair started with the danish designers Hans J.Wegner and Børge Mogensens classical chair types as the P112 and “Tremme sofan”. The inspiration developed as I biked through Copenhagen and saw the neon orange road work sticks that turned into the color of the string in the chair and the construction of the sticks, also details in my clothing took part of the function and details of the chair.
When you sit in the chair you interact with the flexible structure, the sticks stretches with your body weight and shapes itself after your body.
