My graduation project is an illustrated book called 'Gisela’
The book is a collection of drawn ’objects’, more specifically objects that followed my grandmother (Gisela) throughout her life. Objects that in various ways influenced her life, for example by blocking, retaining, emphasizing, demanding, romanticizing or excusing something. By drawing these objects I have tried to create a portrait of my grandmother.
The book is aimed at an adult audience. I chose to create a portrait of an old lady, which should be seen as a comment on a society were the focus is rather on youth.
The book contains 33 illustrations. Each illustration has a number that refers to a short story in the back of the book. There are no specific references from drawing to drawing, nor is there a prescriptive order according to how a viewer must read the book.
